JOHN ANKENBRANDT, Professional Golf Instruction
John brings to Atascocita Golf Club over thirty five years of teaching experience. John has been extremely fortunate to have worked for and studied under some of golf’s great players and instructors.
John hales from Detroit Michigan learning the game in his youth as a caddy at the famed Oakland Hills Golf Club.
John’s first love was hockey however; his golf abilities quickly produced local notoriety earning him the opportunity to play college golf at Florida Southern.
After college a teammate lured John to Champions Golf Club in Houston to learn under golf greats, Jackie Burke, Jr. and Jimmy Demaret. To further John’s young career, Mr. Burke recommended him to renowned teaching professional Jim McClean.
John did have a modest playing career as he focus on his teaching winning many STPGA events. Attempting to improve his own game he traveled many times back to Florida taking personal instruction from legendary teacher, David Leadbetter. As with past golf industry associations, Mr. Leadbetter befriended John allowing him access to his teaching staff and methods.
John’s passion for teaching is only surpassed by the love he has and shows for his lovely wife Susan and two beautiful young children, Logan and Morgan. Family life is John’s motivation for remaining in the local area, teaching at Walden, Kingwood and Red Wolf.
Atascocita Golf Club is truly fortunate that John is available and willing to join our organization. With the use of V1 Video Coaching System Analysis, the student will be well-equipped for improvement. We encourage all who visit to take the opportunity to meet, talk with and improve your game under his wealth of experience and talent.
