Here’s what’s happening at Atascocita Golf Club!

 

Course Update

It has been a busy week on the BIG A !!!

Our team has begun the renovation of the point greens.  We started the work on Monday and finished the fumigation yesterday.

The first thing that we did was strip the existing grass off of the greens.  We then came in with a soil amendment to help with holding water and nutrients.  After the amendment was applied, we tilled the soil and smoothed the green surfaces.  The fumigant then was applied to the soil we covered all the greens with plastic.  The plastic will be left in place for one week to make sure the fumigant does its job.

Next week, we will begin getting the collars ready for sod after the plastic is removed from the greens.

Here’s what’s happening at Atascocita Golf Club!

 

Course Update

The grounds  crew have had a productive week on the golf course.

Earlier in the week the course received 1.5 inches of rain.  We have since dried out nicely and are trying to catch up on mowing the rough.

The greens on Shores were verticut and topdressed this week.  As we get further into spring we will an  increase in the amount of verticutting and we will lower our mowing heights.

Construction for the new greens has also started on point.

Gearing Up for Spring

We have an exciting Spring underway!

Atascocita Golf Club is proud to announce a huge capital investment by the Ownership into our club! The investment includes completely renovated greens on the point and pinehurst courses to be completed by fall of 2019.

The project officially kicks off on Monday April 15. We are scheduled to close the point course to begin construction on the new greens renovation we will fumigate completely sod collars & sprig greens with new Tif Eagle Bermuda. Our plan is if mother nature cooperates with us the point course will be open in June.

Once the point course reopens, we will close the pinehurst course and we will go through the same process for pinehurst as we did with the point course. We anticipate opening pinehurst in early September. Our goal through this process is to always have 18 holes open for you to play.

We are very excited about the next steps in the full golf course transformation. Be a part of something great and help grow our membership!!

Course Update

Greeting From the Big A !

This week the crew continued to clear out the drainage ditch on the left side of shores #1.

You may also notice on #4 shores , we cleared out the left side about 100 yards out to open up the hole.

Repair work on the  pump house will help insure our irrigation system functions more efficiently. Next week we will be doing a light verticut and top dress on the shores!

PGA Jr. League

So you want to learn to Play Golf & Have Fun ??

Calling All Boys & Girls 9-13 Years Old !!!!

PGA Jr. League is changing the way golf is learned and played through its fun, team-oriented approach. Boys and girls of all skill levels learn and play the game with expert coaching and guidance from PGA/LPGA Professional Captains, wear numbered jerseys, and compete on teams with friends in a two-person scramble format that encourages mentor ship and builds confidence.

Our PGA Jr. League has organized team practice sessions and regular matches held within the league. Each player also receives:

• Two high quality Garb jerseys (home and away), available in both girls and boys sizes
• Bag tag – Performance ball cap- Performance tee-shirt- Draw string bag
• Access to the PGA Jr. League Merchandise Store – And more!

COURSE UPDATE

We received .25” rain on Monday

We will be off the paths for the weekend.

Tuesday morning a large group of members joined with our staff and we pulled Poa off the greens on Shores.

It was a major help and a huge success.

Next week we will start to apply our spring pre emerge to the golf course.
